Stir Plates

Post by Bill Lawrence »

Anybody know anything about stir plates? For whatever reason, mine decided to stop working. Yes, I plugged it in and I don't think the fuse is bad since the green light on the front of the plate comes on and there is the normal motor noise. So, am I screwed (those things are a little north of $100 if I remember correctly) or is there some easy fix or incantation I can use to fix it?

New magnets.

Bill you'll need to open it up and see if you've thrown a magnet. That's what it sounds like to me. You may not need new magnets just refixing them to the spinner motor.
