2010 COC Schedule

Post by Brewboy »

Jan/Feb ’10 English Brown Ale
March/April ’10 American Ales
May ’10 Extract Beers
Aug ’10 Mead
Sept/Oct Sour Ale
Nov/Dec ’10 Strong Ale

We need to judge our club entries during the first month listed for each Club Only Competition entry.

I encourage each of you to plan accordingly and brew ahead of schedule to be able to enter this competition. The more entries we get, the more chance we'll have to present a truely outstanding brew to the national level competition.

It's not too late to put your best efforts into an English Brown Ale for a late January judging. Please have entries to HBHQ NLT Jan 22.

Competitions are fun and this one is free so jump on board and help us to represent our club with some truely awsome brews.

Only one (1) 10-14 oz. green or brown bottles are required for each entry. If you are the winner (2-3) additional bottles will be required for the AHA Club-Only Competition. No swing tops allowed. Printed crown caps must be blacked-out with a permanent marker and all labels removed to assure anonymity of all entries. Each entry should use a AHA/BJCP Bottle ID form: http://www.bjcp.org/docs/SCP_BottleID.pdf

Last day for the English Brown Ales entry is tomorrow.

This is just a reminder to get them to Homebrew Headquarters.

Yes! The judges need to know what style to compare your beer to.

Refresh my memory - can you enter more than one style of beer per CoC? What's the rules? I'm not the double-entering type (I like to drink my beer too much to give that much away), but if, for instance, I had an American Pale Ale and an American Brown Ale for the next CoC, could I enter them BOTH? And for the double-entry types, what's our club rule on that (though I only care about the answer to my first question :D )?

Thanks - doing some "brew-planning" for the rest of the year and want to figure out if I need to set some extra aside for CoCs...

Yes, in the COC you can enter 1 per sub category just no double entries into a single sub category. With the next COC due in March, you could potentially enter 3 beers as there are 3 sub categories. American Pale, American Amber, and American Brown. There's plenty of time to brew all 3 between now and then so go for it.
