Yeah...kinda like sending the scout into enemy territory...unarmed and wearing neon disco suit!
Please, please, please deliver my beer safely!

Re: Lunar Rendezbrew XVI
OK, so I got my score sheets back tonight. Somebody 'splain to me how I got a 45.5 average rating for my Oatmeal Stout and no medal...but I got a silver for a 31 with my Weizenbock. That's a REALLY high score for the Stout to not place, isn't it? And a silver for a 31 seems like a really low score for a second.
Is it just me, or does this seem a little out of balance?

What I will tell you is that scores don't mean much to placing in different comps. If you judges a few it will help you understand. Every set of judges has a different scale in which they score. so the 1st place beer could have bee 34's for that style because that set of judges liked to score low.

Makes sense, Damon. I guess I should be happy with the scores and the medal and not over analyze. Appreciate the perspective.
And I did get that not-so-subtle hint that I should do some judging! I will...really!
