Group Buy for Stir Plates

Post by Jimmy Orkin »

We are thinking about doing a group buy for some stir plates. Here is the link for the website describing the stir plate:

http://www.stirstarters.com/

The cost for 3 is down to $33.33. This is a good design and for that price cheaper than I can build it.

I am interested on one.

If you are interested please send an email to Leroy at [email protected] and let him know. Leroy is going to contact Dan Jeska and see what kind of large purchase discount we can get.

A stir plate is a great way to boost the yeast cell count for you yeast pitch. There is a very good pitching rate calculator on Jamil Zainasheff's website. http://www.mrmalty.com/calc/calc.html

That's on of the things next on my list of toys to purchase.

Please count me in for 2 ea. I'm off to fish a tournament in New York for the next 10 days so don't worry if I don't respond to additional posts here. I'm good for it. I'll be back on the 19th of May.

Just to clarify, at that price, I do want Two of them, I'm going to start brewing big beers and I need big/multiple starters.

I'll get in on this buy. I'll take one. Also, I will be at Wayne's tomorrow, and I owe for 50 shipping boxes.

I ordered three of the stir plates so I could evaluate the units. They do work. I would like to have stronger magnets on the drive.

I will bring the plates to the commercial tasting on the 23rd for others to look at. If you like what you see we work on ordering enough to satisfy the group.

I picked one of these up from Jimmy at the comercial tasting and can tell you that I'm fully pleased with the purchase. I still want one more if you choose to purchase more.

The one I got puts a full vortex in a 2000ml flask full to the 2000ml line. I think that the ballence of the stir rod has more to do with the stability than the drive magnets themselves. This one works great retaining stability at higher speeds than demonstrated at the tasting and even that was good enough to produce a good starter.

As Scott said, I brought the stir plates to the commercial tasting. Scott's works a little better than mine but I think mine works fine.

I you want to see a demo, I'll bring mine to the club meeting. After the meeting we will get a final count for the stir plates.

I am bringing my stir plate to the brewday. I can do a demo. We will do a final count and check on prices.

BTW, I think my performance problem is related to the stir bar, not the plate. I have a second bar that works better that the first.

In any case, we are going to get some big honking magnets if you would like to upgrade your plates.

Well the brew day came and went. I don't remember any tally being taken. I still want one. When is the order being made?
