Rahr Sponsored Competition at FW Cats Oktoberfest

The Fort Worth Cats are having an Oktoberfest Saturday October 14 and have asked Rahr & Sons to sponsor a small homebrew competition. I know that it is short notice but maybe you have a few extra bottles on hand. Only 2 bottles are required. Here are the details.


What: 1st annual CAToberfest Beer Challenge
Hosts: The Fort Worth Cats
Where: La Grave Field Parking Lot, (Ft Worth Cats baseball park) Fort Worth, TX
When: October 14th, Saturday
Deadline: * At Rahr & Sons Brewery anytime prior to Oct 14th
(call to schedule drop off date & time 817-602-6366) or
* At Lagrave Field day of the 14th. Check in 3:00 - 3:45 pm

Time: Judging begins at 4:00 pm.
Awards: 5:00 pm'ish Trophies for 1st Place in each category and cash award for Best of Show

Entry: 2 Bottles per entry.
Categories: All categories will be judged against the BJCP Guidelines and grouped in the following 6 main categories. On your entry form please specify 1 of the following 6 categories and then specify the BJCP style.

1) Light Ales - Light Hybrid Beer, English Pale Ale, American Pale Ale, India Pale Ale, German Wheat and Rye Beer

2) Dark Ales - Amber Hybrid Beer, Scottish and Irish Ale, American Amber and Brown Ale, English Brown Ale, Porter, Stout, Strong Ale

3) Light Lagers - Light Lager, Pilsner

4) Dark Lagers - European Amber Lager, Dark Lager, Bock

5) Belgians - Belgian and French Ale, Sour Ale, Belgian Strong Ale

6) Specialties - Fruit Beer, Spice/Herb/Vegetable Beer, Smoke-Flavored and Wood-Aged Beer, Specialty Beer

Entry Fees:
$5 - 1 Entry
$9 - 2-3 Entries
$12 - 4-5 Entries
$15 - 6+ Entries
