BBBB 2009 and 2010

The style for Big Batch Brew Bash in 2009 is Strong Scottish Ales. Is that supposed to be Strong Scotch Ales?

For 2010 it's Barleywine. Probably a good idea to brew a barelywine now to let it start conditioning.

Here's a quote from their June KGB files (Newsletter).

"We need to start early this year on the BBBB and get everyone team brewing. This means getting Strong Scottish Ales in the bottles for BBBB 2009 and getting a head start on the Barleywine for BBBB 2010."

Is there a plan yet to collect entries at HBHQ and transport them down to St. Arnold's en masse?
That would sure save a bunch in shipping costs.

All,

NTHBA will pay for shipping entries to the BBBB for all current members. We however will not have a "Packing Party" for this event.

If you wish to have the club to pay for shipping of your BBBB entries, you must drop off your entries fully packed (fully packed = only effort required to prepare entries for shipping will be to place a shipping label on the box) at HBHQ no later than 3pm Wed May 6th.

If you have any questions please post to this thread or contact me.

Excellent - considering I don't have the cool packing boxes in that other thread - any thoughts on low-tech packing that will keep the bottles safe? I was thinking 3 bottles staggered in a six pack inside a bigger box completely stuffed with paper all around and whatnot, but open to other suggestions...

The most common method is to take your bottles and wrap them in 1ft of the small bubble wrap. Then use a small amount of tape or rubber bands to hold that to the bottle. stack these bottles in your box stuffed with newspaper or more bubble wrap and ship it off. Do not use peanuts or other annoying types of packaging as it can be a pain to remove the bottles from the other end. Here is a good example of what I am talking about but I would leave out the large bubble wrap if ya want and the taping it all together part.

Very nice. I'll go searching for my spare roll of bubble wrap and get packing these up tonight. With no entry fees, can't hurt to enter... all I lose is 3 beers.

Thanks for the assistance.

If my calculations are correct, Cameron you have increased the club's lead over the Bay Area Mashtronauts from 2 to 3 points. Great Going 8)

Congratulations Again,
