CO2 Supplier

CO2 Supplier
Where do I find a CO2 supplier within a reasonable distance of North Dallas/Carrollton who can refill my CO2 tank? When I lived in North Fort Worth, I used to fill my tank at a Beer Barn on Denton Highway in Watauga for $5. I was hoping to find something closer to Dallas.
I had 2 places that I took mine. I should say that I lived in north Carrollton, but worked in Irving.
If I was in a hurry, I would take my tank to Koetter Fire Protection Services on Olympic Drive in Dallas (near intersection of Harry Hines and NW Highway). They could fill it while I waited.
If I was not in a hurry, I'd drop my tank off at Homebrew Headquarters. Once a week, Kelly takes a few somewhere (maybe to Koetter) to have filled. I pick it up again the next time I'm in the store.
Either way, you'll probably be paying more than $5, but I forget the actual price.

Because I am looking for a place closer to my home to purchase CO2 I did a little research on the Captain's suggestion and here is what I found out:
Garland Welding Supply
1960 Forest Lane
Garland, TX 75042
(972) 487-8000
Cost to fill a 5lb tank $14.00
Hours of operation M-F 7:00AM to 5:00PM
and the best part, Saturday 9:00AM to 1:00PM
They told me that they would fill the bottle while you wait as long as it is in date.

<br />Never used them but:
Thurston Discount Beverage
Address: 800 E Parker Rd, Plano, TX 75074
Phone: (972) 422-1511
And they fill. Most "Welding Supply" Stores only exchange.

Orlano, are you talking about propane or CO2? I get propane from them all the time but I have never seen a CO2 operation.

All,
Spoke to Kelly (HBHQ) and he said that Thurston's does not have a "true" CO2 filler.
The way he explained to me was that they simply "top off your tank with CO2 gas" . They do not fill with "liquid" CO2. So you really don't get the full amount.
I plan to use them on my next fill, and I will report back to the group.

Went to Thruston's Sat. and got my 5lb filled (sort of).
They simply connected my 5lb tank to one of their big bulk tanks w/ a line and filled the bottle.
When I got home, I hook my reg to it the tank, it barely got out of the "red".
It was convient though. Walked in and they filled right away.
If I use them next time I am going to put my tank into the freezer, let it get super cold. Hopefully it will get a better fill that way.
