Generally speaking, refill is cheaper if everything else is the same. I now have to exchange or add an extra $20 in gas money to get a refill! If you have a new hi dollar aluminum tank you might not want to end up with an old steel one.

I have been swapping my 20lbs tanks for 10.50.
Refils are also in that same range - call it two beers ;)

Just thought I'd bump this post back to the top. Does anyone have any other suppliers that we should know about?

between plano road and jupiter. exchange 10# for 13.50 the first time. exchange one of their tanks 10.00. upgrade from 10# to 20# for 35$. they are usually pretty quick, ie 5 minutes or less.

I've used Koetter Fire Protection at 10351 Olympic Drive, Dallas, TX 75220. They refilled my 10 lb tank for about $12 or $13.

It has been awhile since I posted. I wanted to let you know that I found a CO2 supplier just west of downtown Dallas at West Commerce and North Beckley (Commerce West Exit off of I-35E) for those of you who may work downtown like I do.

Bacon Equipment Company
2709 North Beckley Avenue
Dallas, TX 75208
(214) 742-5871

They charge $9.00 per refill for a 5lb tank. They refill by using a pump, so you get a fully recharged tank, rather than a transfer from a larger tank like at Thurston's. Also, your tank must be pressure tested within the past five years or they won't refill it. They pressure tested mine for $16.95.
