Wort Chiller

This is a place where people can ask questions about brewing. Hopefully, someone who is more knowledgable about brewing will respond.

Wort Chiller

Post by bpillmore »

I am in the midst of making a wort chiller. I have everything dry-fitted and I am preparing to solder the joints. Is anyone a solder expert? I tried one joint and I wasn't happy with the results.

In any case, if someone can guide me through it or help me out, I would be greatly appreciative (a few bottles of the IPA I have in my fermenter). I live in Carrollton off Josey between Rosemeade and Hebron.

Thanks!

I am not a soldering expert....I dont even play one on the radio but from watching DIY shows and watching others make wort chillers I believe the way to do it is to heat up the copper with a torch and then touch the solder to the pipe and the heat will draw the solder up into your joint.

I'd watch this http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/video/0 ... 26,00.html
but it is pretty easy, just clean and make sure to flux and apply even heat.

please make sure you're not using a lead based solder..
Beer contains just a small amount of vitamins - that's why it's necessary to drink lot of it
