Re: November Brewday
We have 9 people wanting part of the batch.
I'm going to increase the base grain bill.
We should have enough wort to do 50 gallons if we top up.

What's the ETA for wort collection? The OSU-TT game was inconveniently scheduled for 11:00 a.m. I was thinking about watching the first half and showing up after lunch.

I'll be there at least by 9 am. Not sure when the boil will be done. I'm sure its going to be after lunch before its all done.

Re: November Brewday
UPDATE:
Rig is setup and casters are installed. Burners tested and working good. Heat times will be longer than my regular rig and I have to watch to keep from freezing up the propane tanks.
I think I have everything to brew tomorrow.
The chiller is made and tested for leaks.
Then one thing I did not get is ICE. I don't have a big enough cooler to hold 100 pounds. I'll stop on the way and pick up as many as I can store in my cooler(s)
We will need to crack the malt tomorrow. I have my heavy drill, extension cord, power strip etc so hopefully we can start heating water and crack the grain before it comes to heat.
Any suggestions questions tell me tonight or early in the morning before 8am.

Beer contains just a small amount of vitamins - that's why it's necessary to drink lot of it

Re: November Brewday
Rob,
I enjoyed it. Have not had so much fun brewing in quite awhile and look forward to the next big brew day.
I want to thank everyone who helped brewing yesterday.
Lets start some ideas on what would be fun to do. We will put someone in charge of recipe and ingredient round up and free me up to take care of just the rig setup and transport.

Re: November Brewday
The batch I made on the side was 5 gallons of wort pulled off the first runnings.
I made a Belgian Strong Dark Ale
The starting gravity was 1.080 + 1 gallon of second runnings
I added 16 oz of 180 love Belgian Candi Syrup http://www.candisyrup.com/
Steeped
1# of Special B malt
1# of Aromatic Malt
1.5 oz of 8.8% AA Centennial hops
Pitched a starter of WLP570 Belgian Golden Ale Yeast
What yeast did everyone use for their batch?

Didn't do anything to the wort... pitched Wy Belgian Ardennes 3522, going like gang busters... made a starter on wed
the amber developed a good krausen but has stalled... will check the gravity to see what's up.. used wlp001 the starter didn't seem as strong as i would have liked...
got to get going on the stir plate project..

I used a blend of yeasts. I used the dry wheat yeast and a platinum strain French Saison yeast. It is going strong today. I figured why not try something different.

hmmm, seems having the appropriate amount of fluid in the bubbler makes a difference... doh..
