Which tours should I take while in Saint Louis

Post by AmbassadorBrewing »

So out of the blue I am flying to Saint Louis Missouri for work in Illinois. I leave today in 2 hours, and will be able to eat at a brew pub tonight. I have some free time Saturday afternoon then I fly back to Dallas Saturday night. So in my free time I want to take tours of the local breweries and learn their secrets for my own home brews.

Any suggestions? Which would be the best for a home brewer to go to for ideas? Best brew pub?

I just returned from a trip to St. Louis while going to my cousin's wedding. While there we went to St. Charles, MO (a suburb) to Trail Head Brewing. I wasn't that impressed. The next day we did the obvious and toured AB. The architecture alone is worth the tour. Beautiful building and it is a pretty neat tour. At the end you get two free drinks. When we were there a few weeks ago they had Stella on tap.

Then we went to Schlafly for lunch. My cousin and his girlfriend work there so I was able to tour the brewery with their head brewer. Very cool tour, and they have a fantastic American IPA right now. I highly suggest trying it if you get a chance. The food at their taproom is great too. There are plenty of other breweries in St. Louis but I only had time for those three around the wedding.

Have fun! St. Louis is a fantastic underrated city.
