The 2007 Dixie Cup competition

Post by sirjohn »

The 2007 Dixie Cup competition will be held October 19-20, 2007 in Houston. The entry fee is $7 per entry until September 28 if you register your entries online, or $8 per entry if you use the paper entry forms. Late entries will be accepted until October 5, but the entry fee will cost you $10 per entry, with no discount for online entries. Get those entries in early, avoid the rush, and save some money. Absolutely no entries will be accepted after October 5!

The competition will feature two special beer categories this year. You won?t generally find these categories anywhere in the BJCP guidelines. The first special category is something called Gruit Ain?t Moot, while the second special category honors one of Houston?s beer pioneers with It?s Just Beer. Check out the official Dixie Cup website for more information at http://www.crunchyfrog.net/dixiecup/

Entries will be accepted beginning September 17. Enter as early as possible. Avoiding the last minute crunch will allow time for your beers to settle and make planning easier for the organizers. As a general rule, beers that arrive early tend to do better in competitions than last minute arrivals. Every little edge can help.

We can always use more hands or more beer depending on how you look at it [:)].

I will call Kelly tomorrow morning and post how many we have to pack. Please check back...

I will try to be there. I have a couple of entries I'd like to include, and I'll be glad to help pack. Getting over to Richardson by six is a bit of a challenge for me during the work week, but I'll see what I can do.

We had a total of 30+ entries and about 10 different beers to sample. We really had a fun time. If you still have entries get them to Kelly (packaged and ready to ship) as quickly as possible.
