NHC Judging Center - Denver

Post by Jimmy Orkin »

The date for entering your beers into the National Homebrew Competition has been delayed until March 2, 10 a.m. Mountain Time.

We can consolidate shipping of our entries if we choose one site. I propose that site be Denver. Since the NHC conference sold out in 48 hours, I am expecting the competition will sell out quickly also. So register your NHC entries on Friday.

Who is planning to enter NHC this year. I have 5 beers to enter.

If there are no restrictions as to who can enter (i.e., winner of a COC or experience within the club), then I'd definitely like to enter two or three beers.

The NHC is an open competition. If you are an AHA member its $10.00 per entry and $15.00 for non AHA members.

AHA Membership for one year is $38.00

I plan to enter about 9. I will arrange a packing party and freight shipment for the club's entries.

I encourage you to enter your beers today. Denver is already at 381 entries out of 750 and the system just opened. Some sites are already at 500 entries out of 750.

I had contacted a freight shipping company, and they haven't responded to me with a quote yet. When I gave them estimates on size and weight, my estimate was based on 3 bottles per entry. I later remembered that we only need 1 bottle per entry for first round. Since it is only 1 bottle per entry, our combined shipment may not be big enough to justify a pallet shipment. How many entries does everyone have, and are they all going to Denver, or are some registered for another judging center?

The deadline to get your entries to the judging center is Wednesday March 28. When are we having the packing party?

We will have a packing party at Wine Maker's Toy Store, this Monday, March 19th at 6:00 pm. This will be for shipping for any of the judging centers, not just Denver. All sites filled up quickly, and I understand that some members had to use an alternate site. Please read here for packing party rules. If you can't be there in person, drop them off at Wine Maker's, fully packed by close of business Monday, and we'll get it sent where it needs to go.
