The 1st Annual Spirit of '76 Challenge

Post by Blackhorse »

The very first ever Spirit of '76 Challenge homebrew competition is coming soon! The Spirit of ’76 Challenge is Texas’ newest homebrew competition, and the first to be devoted to lagers and ales of American origin. The competition is sponsored by the Horsemen of the Hopocalypse.

This year marks the very first ever So76 Challenge, a contest we plan to turn into an annual event each Veteran’s day. We’re looking to get the program off to a strong start, and are really hoping to get a lot of local participation. The Spirit of ‘76 is an AHA/BJCP sanctioned event, and all entries will be judged according to BJCP guidelines. We'll also be looking for judges to help with the evaluation, and will put out a call for volunteers when we get closer to the event.

We’ve all been to ceremonies of long-running events where at some point the organizers pause to recognize those in attendance who have had the longest run of participation in prior years. This is your chance to be that person! You’ll never be able to say you entered all of them if you don’t enter the first one. Don’t let your chance at future fame and recognition slip away!

Check out http://spiritof76.hopocalypse.org for all the details. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Schedule of Events:
October 3 – 21: Entries accepted. Bottles must be received by Friday October 21.
November 5 – 6: Judging (9am Saturday, Sunday if needed), Coors Distributing Ft. Worth
November 12: Awards Ceremony, The Colony Salute to Heroes, Time TBD
