Summer Party July 24th - Toga Competition

Post by kingsbrew »

Ok, I'll admit I was one of those who was NOT planning on wearing a toga. Well, Scott's little talk at the meeting Tuesday has guilted me into it. If I'm gonna do I'm gonna do it well. I can guarantee you mine will not be a sheet. So, get with it guys and girls.

The party is at 6:00 at my house this Saturday. The gate is on the right side of the house, the side that will have the giant beer glass out front. Please be sure and keep an eye out for Sirius as he will try and escape.

We will be having Mexican food again. I will be making the green tomitillo chicken enchilidas, the red chili beef enchilidas, chicken and beef tacos.

So I don't have to cook everything, here are a few items that people can bring to help out.

Mexican rice
Refried/borracho beans
Pico de gallo
guacomole.

The rice and beans we will need enough for about 50 people.
If you can help, just reply to the message stream.

Of course we will need plenty of homebrew, the brewday drained me pretty good.

Hope to see everyone in your togas.

For those of us with less advanced cooking skills (mmm... mac and cheese  ), are desserts still an option?

Of course, desserts are needed and other snacks. Just trying to fill out the menu.

Well, I missed Scott's words of wisdom at the last meeting however I hope you "winnies" show up wearing your togas (I purchased the stuff to make mine last night and it was cheap). Incidently, I got 6 yards of white cloth for $1.99/yard at Hancocks Fabrics, better and cheaper than using a sheet. All I need to do is talk my wife into heming the material plus putting on the stripe and I'll be set. I guess I also need an olive leaf crown but that should be really simple. Hopefully, somebody is adept at photography and can get some decent pictures which we can get posted to our website (it's always good to show lurkers how much fun we have in the club). By the way, I will probably try to bring a desert since I have several good recipes.

Got it, thanks. Desserts I can do, and do well.

Heading out to get the toga material(s) tonight. Looking forward to being a little creative with mine without putting a ton of time into it.

I don't think the kegerator is going to be there. Plan on bringing your own ice and CO2.

That sucks I think thats the main reason only one person brought a keg to the last party. :(
I don't want to take apart my christmas tree of valves and fittings for one night.

I'm still going to bring a keg and try to bum some air.

I've told Bill that I would make the Spanish Rice during the Club Meeting on the 13th. Looks like we'll have quite a bit, since Bill asked me to make rice for 50 people. I'll also bring what I've got left in Kegs; I have a Red Chili Ale that should go good with Mexican food, a American IPA and a Pilsner. Hopefully you all will like them.
