I brewed my arse off this weekend.
I worked in 20 gallons done in 3 all grain batches in the sub freezing temps this weekend. No small task either.
Never before had my water hose freeze up in between uses.
Never before had my chiller drain line freeze up before I could get a second batch done.
Never before had problems chilling too much post boil. I literally took a 12 gallon batch from boiling down to 52 degrees in 15 minutes. That'll teach me to walk away from it.
I got in a Cream ale, Special Bitter, and American Rye.
Did you brew this weekend?
Anyone else brew this weekend?

Not me...took a weekend off. Last week I did a Weizenbock and Hefe, Saturday I brew an Octoberfest.
I doubt that we will ever have to worry about freezing brewing equipment again!

it was too cold for me to brew. Reading your post just confirmed it for me. Nice work however!

You are one tough dude. I wimped out. It was too tempting to just sit and watch football.

Re: Anyone else brew this weekend?
4 lbs rye
4 lbs red wheat
5.25 lbs 2 row
1 lb rice hulls
No problems with at all. I did do a 20 minute glucan rest at 113 degrees though.

Wow, that is over the top. I didn't brew either as my sister was here from California. This coming weekend however, I will be doing a heffe and it will be ugly, I plan a double decoction as well as boiling down the first runnings. My plan is to do a heffe this weekend and a dunkel weizen next weekend. Somehow, I need to squeeze in the Cowboy game, hopefully ride the bike a little and do whatever stuff my wife comes up with for me. If all works our correctly, I should have all my entries ready to go by the end of the month (I will be naturally carbonating both batches of wheat beer so the bottles will need to sit around for a couple of weeks at room temperature then I will be ready to go).
Remember, brewers make wort, only yeast make beer

Yeah - I brewed a stout. Had similar problems trying to get my hose to thaw so that it would not send those lovely ice chunks into my chiller. I did not have any problem getting my wort cooled - problem was getting it not too cool to pitch. Had to pop an airlock on it and move it inside for quite some time before I felt comfortable pitching the yeast in.
Hopefully we get above these 32- nights and stay that way for a while...
