Limbo 2009 Planning

Post by Jimmy Orkin »

I have started this topic to keep the membership informed on what is going on with the Limbo this year. We had the kickoff meeting last night. Thanks to Orlando for hosting us. Here is some of the things discussed:

Fred David is the the 2009 Director.

1. Dates:
7/31: Login
8/8: Judging at Fred's or Brian's
8/22 or 23: Awards Ceremony location TBD.

2. Damon working to find location for Award Ceremony .

3. Don Trotter is Head Judge. I think James Dorman is IT.

4. Discussed adding categories. Decided no new categories this year. Committee will discuss adding categories this year for inclusion next year. This will give a one year notice. We want to set the standard for informing contestants in the Lone Star Circuit.

5. Next meeting is after the July Officers meeting on July 7 at Brian Beyer's.

That is all I can remember for now. I will ask the other committee members to contribute.

Please consider joining the committee. We want your input. There will be a need for help as we move closer to the event. Please lend a hand if you can.

If anyone is curious about the styles allowed in the Limbo check out http://www.limbocomp.org

Looks like the dates need to be updated for 2009.

I was wondering today, and I don't remember what the meeting minutes may say, but who is in charge of getting the Limbo registered with the BJCP, and what is the status? I was on the BJCP site today and did not see the Limbo listed.

If I recall it was Fred that was going to do that. You might want to shoot him an email. I am not sure how often he checks the forums.

The next planning meeting is scheduled to be after the officers meeting at Brian Beyers house if I remember correctly. I'm guessing that will be July 7th. I'll be out of town that week so just e-mail me what all was decided. If Damon is revamping the registration page then as long as the same info is sent to me as last year then I'm ok on the data entry side of things. I just have to re-sort it a little to get in the correct order for the software but that is no trouble. If he needs to know what all I need just have him e-mail me.

My very much unofficial points count says that we are now 4 points behind BAM in the LSC standings. We need to keep it up - only three competitions remaining!

Can we meet at the officers meeting tomorrow to discuss adding/deleting subcategories for next year? If no, let's plan to do so next time.

Officers meeting is the first Tuesday of the month. The next meeting is on September 1 at Catfish House, 3108 Old Denton Road Suite 103, Carrollton, TX 75007 at 7:00 PM.

I agree we need to discuss categories if we are going to make any changes.
