Pacific Gem hops opinions

This is a place where people can ask questions about brewing. Hopefully, someone who is more knowledgable about brewing will respond.

Pacific Gem hops opinions

Post by kingsbrew »

Anyone out have experience using Pacific Gem hops? From what I have read it seems they are good for bittering but maybe not so much for aroma or flavor. A little should go a long way and I would think they would be good for a big beer.

If you have used them report what type of beer and whether you used them for bittering, aroma or flavor. Did you like them?

I have never used them, but I seem to remember Wayne using them. Of course I could be imagining things!

I have used them and have some left.

They are very different. They do have a berry component that comes out after some aging.
I brewed a batch of mild brown ale with them and it was good but not what I expected.

I think the batch I got are 16% aa so you need an accurate gram scale to measure.

Wayne.
