Re: I've gone and done it now!

That covers the basics. I suggest you get a bigger pot if you are boiling outside. 40 quart would be good for 5 gallon batches.

Good to see you jumping in.

Leroy (kingsbrew) is in Colony so he would be a good person to get with.

Re: Pacific Gem hops opinions

I have used them and have some left. They are very different. They do have a berry component that comes out after some aging. I brewed a batch of mild brown ale with them and it was good but not what I expected. I think the batch I got are 16% aa so you need an accurate gram scale to measure. Wayne.

Re: What are you brewing for Bluebonnet?

I was shooting for 30ish but only entered 26. That was not fun to bottle up!

Really hoping the club keeps the award this year.

Re: Club Vote to Revise NTHBA COC/BR Competition

I agree on most of the points and most of us seem to be arguing to the same end. I don't think the COC or points should change as it is tied to the AHA. I do think a separate award system should be put in place for the LoneStar Circuit. The naming of the awards is immaterial but they should be disti...

Actually I cut and pasted the recounting of the recipe from the gotmead.com forumn.

My milk jug fermenter was my own improvisation. And yes the look on Orlando's face was priceless when I told him!

Hey I rinsed it out before I used it at least.

Recipe Link - Ancient Orange Mead

This is the recipe I used for the mead entered in the club only competition. It is unconventional by most measures but it is a very nice sweet mead that is ready in a very short time. Hope you guys enjoy it! Wayne Link is here: http://www.gotmead.com/index.php?option=com_rapidrecipe&page=viewrec...
