Re: Collaboration BigBatch #5: Oak Barrel Project: This Satu

How many people are committed at this point? I want to do it but have been spending a lot on beer/homebrewing lately, so need to think on it for a bit.

Re: Collaboration BigBatch #5: Oak Barrel Project: This Satu

So when the barrel is emptied we would walk with a 5 gallon keg of the Belgian. Would we then go home and everyone adds sugar to bottle condition and fills their own bottles, or are we all going to bottle together and everyone walks away with bottles? If we are all filling together does our $50 buy ...

Re: Labor of Love - Fest of Ales - DEBC - Discussion

Might not have a brew now....just got home and my keezer no longer had a temp probe in it and everything was frozen. Had 10 people over last night for Fantasy Football draft and someone somehow pulled the temp probe out of the keezer on accident. Lost close to $100 in commercial brew that exploded i...

I can tell you from volunteering there they don't have an ice machine, so you would probably be best served bringing ice.

Re: Labor of Love - Fest of Ales - DEBC - Discussion

Well Bill, I guess that is why they say brewing is a combination of Science and Art. You are practicing the fine art of brewing, I'm still back at the science stage in many cases. I'm still new to the game so knowing how much to mash with and how much I need to sparge with is a guessing game without...

Re: Labor of Love - Fest of Ales - DEBC - Discussion

So I just brewed by DEBC LOLFOA beer, loving the new acronym. I was going for a Nelson Sauvin Single Hop IPA, Beersmith unfortunately didn't have me use enough pre-boil mash/sparge water, and I only got 4.6 gallons into primary. With dry-hopping secondary I only expect to see 4 gallons go into the k...

Re: Labor of Love - Fest of Ales - DEBC - Discussion

Thank you for all the information Jimmy. You can move me to a definite yes instead of a maybe. I will brew up a Single Hop Nelson Sauvin IPA. One more question, I have a brew-partner and we split all costs, responsibilities etc, will bringing one 5 gallon keg get us both in free? I am also volunteer...

Re: Labor of Love - Fest of Ales - DEBC - Discussion

Can you explain how DEBC is donating grain and hops? Are they giving a certain amount and if we want to brew we come grab some or how will that work? I would be willing to brew up a batch and bring it down, but I don't have a jockey box and I use pin lock kegs so might throw some things off. I can b...

Re: 2012 Limbo Challenge

Can I ask a point of clarification on the OG? I haven't ever entered a competition so I want to make sure I don't get DQ'ed from my first one. I am making a beer that has honey in the recipe, but I won't be adding to the boil, I'll be adding to fermentation after a couple days. If the estimated OG i...

Club Meeting at DEBC

I just recently joined, came out to the brewday a few weeks ago, and am wondering what happens at the club meetings? I see the June one is at DEBC and I really like those guys and their beer, so I was wondering what all will be going on. Do people bring their homebrews for others to try? I actually ...

Re: Brew Day

I'm a brand new member, just signed up at HBHQ a couple weeks ago. Its ok to just come hang out and not brew right? My buddy and I are brewing that day but I don't think I want to deal with brining all our gear out there. I'd like to come meet everyone though. Is this starting at 9 like the others i...
