Re: BIG50 Batch #3
I am not planning on running and organizing a brew on the 18th. If someone is stepping up to organize and brew on the rig that day they will need to decide very quickly so they can contact me. I'll transport and help get the rig and gear prepped but the rest will be on the volunteering "brewmas...

Fermenting / Serving from Sanke beer kegs
WARNING. OPENING A SANKE KEG WITHOUT VENTING IT CAN KILL YOU Grab a screwdriver, vent the keg and keep brewing. Just lean the keg to the side unless you want a beer shower. BIG50 Batch #3
Batch #2 is done and in the fermenters. Going forward we will co-ordinate better. The rig runs very well now and I think we will be able to hit our targets better going forward. I'm looking for future brew masters who want to run and organize a brew day on the BIG50 system. Your role would be to des...

Re: BIG50 system Batch #2
It looks like we have more takers than beer.
I'm getting stuff together now and guess we will sort it out at the brew day.

Re: BIG50 system Batch #2
This will be at the next brew day Saturday, January 21 Mike Grover's 9:00AM The plan is to do one boil with one variety of american hops and standard american two row malt as the base wort. If you prefer to boil your own wort with a different hop selection you will need your own brew gear to do the ...

Re: BIG50 system Batch #2
I've decided that a batch of SMASH (Single Malt and Single Hop) - APA will be a good option for the 2nd batch. American 2-row malt and an American hop. You can dry hop and pitch your choice of ale yeast on your batch. We can talk more about doing the partigyle for a later batch. Who wants to take so...

I've used the harbor freight bits and they work for dozens of holes if you keep the steel cool when you drill.

Re: Hookup on bulk honey?
Honey supplies have dried up this year due to the heat and drought conditions. I've asked around and have only been able to get 24 pounds for next years batches. If you come up with something please let us know. I found this in my searches. Not local but a great price on tupelo: http://www.sleepingb...

Re: BIG50 system Batch #2
Jason,
I'm still trying to make time to do the false bottom. I'm going to go to the brew day but bringing Big50 is not going to happen this month.

Electric Boil Kettle controller - Pulse Width Modulation
Found a cool gadget on homebrewtalk.com I'd like to put together. I'd prefer an off the shelf item but it seems the frequency is the important thing for this. Circuitry is not my forte. I can muddle through this setup but wanted some opinions on this design: Pulse Width Modulation controller build. ...

Re: BIG50 system Batch #2
I talked about it but have not decided yet.
I still need to cut the false bottom and run a test brew on it before we do a full batch on it.

Re: 2012 Brewer Royale
You offering to mentor new members? Seriously though I agree that we need to up our game and I think it will happen next year. I've done the hard core competitive brewing circuit for Lone Star and judged competitions so if anyone needs advice I'll be happy to help. The Brewer Royale is a great way t...
