Re: Revenge

Well "savaged" is a subjective term which I used mostly to get attention to the post. Really though, you should expect to win you own competition so it ain't too good to just tie. :D

Re: Revenge

I knew when I posted that there was a chance one of my so called "friends" would come up with that. Unfortunately, I expect my job to tie up alot more of my time in the very near future so sadly I will not have time to serve. I can however show up at meetings and rag on everyone if you fee...

Re: 2nd Annual Labor of Love-Fest of Ales at DEBC

Well I thought is was a fun event, my hearing is slowing coming back. Yeah, the heat was an issue but when you stuff that many people into a space like that it's gonna be a problem which as previously stated more fans would have helped. I also could have done without the "cards" because th...

Revenge

Well the Limbo is over and although we had some good moments overall I would say we got savaged at our own competition. As I am not an officer anymore I don't know how big this club is but I was told by a knowlegable source that we managed a paltry 50 (plus or minus) entries out of a total of a bit ...

Re: 2nd Annual Labor of Love-Fest of Ales at DEBC

Well I have a two tap jockey box, I'll need to use one tap but the other is free to somebody in need. It would probably be good to put your keg in an iced container as foam can be an issue if you don't keep the beer cool (been there, done that, got the T-shirt). :D

Re: 2nd Annual Labor of Love-Fest of Ales at DEBC

Well I brewed this weekend, a hop bursted American Wheat beer similar to last year (except I'm going with heavy Citra this year). I also e-mailed the brewery so assuming they have room I should be set. If for some reason my bride decides I have other plans at least I'll send the keg with one of you ...

Re: 2013 Limbo Challenge

Well I assume that one of your entries will be your award winning Mild. Because that is such a sure thing to win a metal, I decided that I would concentrate my efforts elsewhere. This year I will be entering a CAP, Best Bitter, Calif. Common, Dort, Vienna Lager, Heffe and American Pale Ale. Of cours...

Re: Homebrew for the Oktoberfest Party

Yeah seems like I make alot of German beers and every one gets a decoction, makes for a long day. I do cheat a bit however, I let the mash convert using normal infusion techniques then start pulling the decoctions, really all I want are the melonodin products you get from doing the boiling. The easi...

Re: 2013 Limbo Challenge

Well I got my entries ready to go yesterday. It's time to get trashed in yet another homebrew contest, I hope the rest of you guys and ladies are planning to get your entries in. We would hate to get beaten in our own contest by those godless hordes south of us. :D

Re: Homebrew for the Oktoberfest Party

Sorry, I just saw this and I suspect you have already brewed. There is nothing wrong with your formulation, the beer should taste great. I like to add just a little melonodin malt, I think it improves the malty character along with the decoction mash. You can also screw around with other specialty m...

Re: Barrel aging questions

Well take all this for what it's worth since I have never screwed around with barrels however: If you cool the beer down more of the junk will drop out which is probably a good thing because you will then keep it out of the barrel. If you plan to keep the barrel at room temperature, I would warm the...

Re: Club Only Competition

Well to the extent that part of the reason for doing these is to get the new members/brewers involved in competitons; I would suggest going light on the lagers or soured/wood aged beers. I really don't know what percentage of the membership does beers like that but I suspect they are a relatively sm...

Re: Brewday June 15th

Since I'm doing a lager Sunday I don't have room in my fridge to brew another batch but I planned to try and stop by and kibitz. As my in-laws are in town I have heavy incentive to show up but of course my bride may have other ideas. :D

Re: Spring Partee

Ok so maybe it's been a long time but doesn't "blow" as used by the original poster refer to cocaine? As far as the hookers go, we tried that several years ago at the Bluebonnet. As it turns out, besides being on the nurdy side, most homebrewers are also cheap so the hookers don't make out...
