Henry's Tavern

Henry's Tavern, at shops at Legacy, is doing penny draft beers all this week. 100 beers on tap, I went the last 2 nights, its very busy, you may wait in line to get in, but unlimited penny drafts could be worth it. No real rare beers, but a very solid list of craft brews.

Re: Club Only Competition

Octoberfests seem very popular in the club, that could make a fun august/september comp. A lof ot people just got barrels so maybe a wood aged specialty sometime next year? I think it would be smart to have an early in the year comp for Belgian Pale Ale so we can get a little feedback on this style ...

Re: New Member here

Why are we getting these bots posting here? Seems weird. That message right before mine is almost a carbon copy of the one above from last year, very strange.

Re: IPA Hoping Schedule?

I know we tried it and I know a pro brewer in town with a great IPA really likes first wort hops for IPA's, gives you some hop flavor depth that is hard to describe or explain, but its worth a shot.

Re: Water conditioning/additions?

I would also like to see what people are using. I just moved to Plano and the water is disgusting here, so I will be buying water from those big jug filling stations and needing to add salts/minerals I am sure.

Re: Off Flavors Tasting

Oh, even a blind squirel finds an acorn once in a while. Thing is, the nasty stuff never sees the light of day. I'm picturing a basement full of nasty bottles, full of bacteria and off flavors, built up over years and years of brewing, guarded by a small hunchback. If only we had basements ...

Re: Celtic Brew Off

This is a new one, didn't enter it in bluebonnet.

I do have a bottle of the Schwarzbier for you to try again, I'll see if I can have some fresh from teh keg too to see if the oxidation is from bottling or if you get it off the keg. Maybe club meeting next week.

Re: Celtic Brew Off

I entered a Special Bitter, if it doesn't score better than some of my Bluebonnet entries I am going to have to sit down with someone and figure out what is going on. This thing is almost indistinguishable from the Fuller's London Porter on visual, and the taste is great, not a clone at all but turn...

Off Flavors Tasting

Chuck mentioned at the Craft & Growler meeting that he would be getting the off flavor kit from the BJCP people. Is there already a sign up for this class or an estimated date?

Re: Any interest in 5 gallon barrels?

As a quick update I reached out to the website that sells them and they weren't interested in a group discount, so I have contacted Balcones directly. They responded and got me to the right contact, so I am just waiting to hear back from him. I'll let you all know what I find out.
