Re: Wort Chiller

I am not a soldering expert....I dont even play one on the radio but from watching DIY shows and watching others make wort chillers I believe the way to do it is to heat up the copper with a torch and then touch the solder to the pipe and the heat will draw the solder up into your joint.

Re: Barrel aging?

I will definitely try to bring some with me. I plan to fill it up this weekend so by the time the Bluebonnet rolls around it wont have much time in there but I will monitor it carefully to make sure it doesnt get too strong in that short amount of time.

Barrel aging?

Anyone have any familiarity with barrel aging? I snagged a 5 gallon used whiskey barrel and was planning on filling it up with some imperial stout to let it age. My question is this....would it be ok to rack over a batch that I just kegged a few weeks ago and let it age or should I brew a fresh batc...

Question about beer at Bluebonnet

I am a volunteer for No Label Brewery here in Katy, TX. I have been talking to them about sending some beer up to the Bluebonnet for the hospitality room or the commercial tasting. Who do we need to contact for the commercial tasting? Does that have to be handled by distributors or can they just giv...

Calling Don Trotter....come in Don Trotter

If anyone sees Don can you please point him this direction. Just made my reservation for the Bluebonnet and trying to see if he needs a roommate this year. Of course if he doesn't and one of you other folks do please let me know. Also I may be coming up Feb 25th to drop off entries from some Houston...

Re: Hookup on bulk honey?

We found a guy in Kountze, Tx that will sell to us for 1.70 per lb if we bring out own containers. Still a bit of a drive but the best price that we have found so far.

Hookup on bulk honey?

Anyone have a hookup for cheap bulk honey in the Dallas area? Me and some members of the Cane Island Alers plan on having a "mead-ing" in early January where we are all going to brew up a batch of mead. In the past the guys have had a supplier over in Baytown east of Houston where they wer...

Re: Academy fry cart?

Mine still has the original wheels and burners and that is after a 5 or 6 yr layoff from brewing and being stored outside part of the time over the years. The burners have a nut and bolt on the bottom that hold them on. The wheels are just bolted on the angle iron....should be easy to remove and put...

Re: Academy fry cart?

Exact same cart that I use as well. Snagged mine at Academy in Lewisville 8 or 9 yrs ago on sale for $99 or so. It was a sight seeing my trying to get it home in a 1999 Ford Escort ZX2. I had to lay the passenger seat all the way back and squeeze it in there and it had me all pushed up against the d...

Re: Intro

You wont find a better group of brewers to hang out with Jamie. This club is truly one of the major things that I miss after my relocation to Houston 8 yrs ago.

Re: Lunar Rendezbrew Packing Party

Just as well....I sorely underestimated my wife's power to accumulate more stuff while on a trip than she started with. We would only have had room for 1 or 2 cases at the most as the car was packed to the ceiling on the trip home. I know it wasn't that full when she left but she was in Oklahoma for...

Re: Lunar Rendezbrew Packing Party

I will check back here later in the weekend and if you think you might need my help just let me know. I know it would suck to have to drive all the way to Houston just to drop off those entries unless you were headed down this way for other stuff anyway. As long as you dont have a huge amount of ent...

Re: Lunar Rendezbrew Packing Party

I will be coming back thru DFW this Sunday and Monday on my way back to Houston from Lawton, OK. If you dont have too many entries and you could have them ready to go on Monday morning I would be glad to get them back to Houston for you guys.

Everybody make it thru last night?

I was watching the weather channel last night. Looks like you guys had a crazy ride. I hope everybody is ok and made it thru with minimal damage. Its kinda crazy....we are going thru a drought down here and can't get any rain and you guys are getting hammered with hail and tornadoes.

Another successful Bluebonnet complete!

What a great time this weekend! It was good to hang out with my old NTHBA buddies again. I really miss you guys and gals and I hope that some of you can make it down for the Dixie Cup in October. We have a spare bedroom and a couple of comfy couches if you decide to come and want to save the hotel c...
