Re: Competition Medals

Bill - Look for trophy shops or places that specialize in awards. The place we use here specializes in golf tournament awards and giveaways but does lots of other stuff too. Mike Yeah. . . .but what's the name of the business? I'd like the name of the Dallas business that does this for the Bluebonn...

Competition Medals

Hi guys, The owners of a local Raleigh microbrewery have asked me to organize a homebrew competition for them. This is one of those contests where the winner will get to brew his beer on a commercial scale. I need to order some awards for the BOS and flight winners. All of the competitions here in N...

Re: Back in Dallas at the end of April, first of May

Dang! I was all set to come to the brew day tomorrow, but then my wife's family (local to Dallas) went and organized an impromptu family get-together since this is the first time we've been back in nearly 3 years. Looks like I won't be able to make the brew day afterall.

Re: Back in Dallas at the end of April, first of May

OK. Leaving for Dallas tomorrow morning and should be there by Monday evening, so that means I should be able to come to the brew day on May 9th, if all goes according to plan.

Back in Dallas at the end of April, first of May

Hi guys, It looks like Julie and I will be back in Dallas for about a week at the end of April. I see from the social calendar that you have a brew day and a big brew scheduled, so hopefully I can attend one or both of these. Looking forward to seeing some old homebrewing buddies. Regards, Bill Dubas

Geeks column in Zymurgy

Did anyone happen to see Steve Holle's Geeks column in this month's Zymurgy? He gives a shout out to the North Texas Homebrewers Association. He also thanks Jim Layton, Kelly Harris, and I for helping him edit the brewing calculations book that he wrote a few years ago.

I had to laugh when I read this thread. The club that I'm a member of now has an Oktoberfest party each year. Since I finally got back to brewing this past month, I was really excited to bring a keg of my first beer, as saison, to this party. After all, I'd been suckin' down their homebrew for a yea...

Man, I'm going to miss the Bluebonnet! I participated every year since 1994 (except for the year that I was on my honeymoon). Anyone else remember when we used to hold the first round judging at that brewery in Deep Ellum? Wonder if there are any cheap flights back to Dallas on that weekend. . . [:)]

Congratulations Bruce! I'm only a day's drive south of you (Raleigh NC) and Julie's sister lives in Philadelphia (well, actually she lives across the river in New Jersey because the real estate is cheaper) so I know that we will be visiting the area soon. Send me an email with your contact info when...

Digital Scales for Brewing

I just ordered a new digital scale from these guys to use for measuring hops, spices, and specialty grains. They have scales from $30 on up. No affiliation.

Excellent Birthday Dinner

I hit the big 43 this weekend, so Julie took me out to dinner tonight at a casual Belgian beer restaurant in Chapel Hill, which is about a 20 minute drive from our apartment. This restaurant is in an old plumbing supply store (Orange Plumbing and Heating) and they've blocked off the small parking lo...
