Re: Brewing for BB2014
Kevin and I are brewing a few for Bluebonnet. We are brewing our Winter Warmer this Friday that will go into the barrel for a month and ready right in time. We will also re-brew our S'more stout for BB. We will do at least one more batch for bluebonnet, not sure what quite yet. Our Oktoberfest took ...

Re: Honey porter recipe ideas-feedback please!
Bill beat me to it but I always add honey to the mix 2-3 days after pitching yeast. Its good for yeast health also as they will eat the simple sugar of the honey before the sugars extracted from the malt. I have read of many a recipe where the yeast eats the honey and never makes it all the way thro...

Re: Sparging 2 Mash Tuns to one Boil Kettle
. Batch sparge the secondary cooler with your full volume of sparge water. Send its runnings by gravity into to the main mash. You could also split (t-fitting) the fly sparge into both mash tuns then collect into the boil kettle. . If you send it all through the secondary cooler won't you have an i...

I know that at the club meeting Einar said that he was planning to drive our club entries to Houston. If I remember correctly, he said that he was driving there on Sept. 21.

Dixie Cup
Will we be shipping down as a club or possibly is Einar driving down entries? Just wondering when our cutoff is so we can get them to Houston on time.

Re: Revenge
Count me in, we aren't winning left and right but we have a couple medals to our name this year and hope to pick up another couple at Dixie. We will def be entering most every comp next year and hope the rest of the club will do the same.

Re: 2013 Limbo Challenge
Oh, and I am planning to come help check in beers on the 3rd, so I will bring my entries there.
I also was going to volunteer to help steward the event if that is still needed, but I am not sure where to sign up.

Re: 2013 Limbo Challenge
Based on taste I really don't think anyone would say it was over 1050. It isn't against the spirit of the comp or considered "cheating" if I enter it knowing it started over 1050? The goal was 1050 haha.

Re: 2013 Limbo Challenge
I'll be entering 3. I really really wanted to enter a 4th, but the Schwarzbier had to high of an OG, we were aiming right at 1.050, and somehow we hit nearly 1.060, not going to break the rules.

Re: Homebrew for the Oktoberfest Party
Thanks Bill, the Oktoberfest is fermenting away, I'll be upping the temp here in a couple days for a diacetyl rest then going to the lager chamber. I will see about adding the melanodin malt next time, hopefully this turns out well, the decoction mash was a headache, it sure took forever, but I can ...

Re: Homebrew for the Oktoberfest Party
Reviving this thread from the dead. Kevin and I are brewing our first Oktoberfest Friday after work, in for a long night. We are planning a double enhanced decoction. Looking for about a 3.5 hour mash before any sparge. It was fun to read all the info in this thread. I am thinking: 60% Pilsner malt ...

I will be dropping off 3 entries at HBHQ this Saturday morning. I'll put them in a bigger box and not just loose 6 packs. Thanks Einar!
