Re: Any tips for moving with beer?
Thanks for the info guys. Yeah, I think the moving truck is going to get loaded up around Friday morning, and I'll be lucky to get the beer of it by Wednesday night, maybe not until Thursday, as I need to find an apartment and wait for the background/credit check to go through. On another forum I wa...

Re: Shiner Smokehaus
Tried it a few times... eh... Not horrendously bad, but not something I'd go out of my way to buy or drink really unless it were that or BMC. Nothing exciting on the taste, and I'm very prejudiced against screwoff caps. For that matter, the above would apply to any Shiner beer. While we're on the to...

Re: Any tips for moving with beer?
Also, will it damage my kegs if beer freezes in them? How much would the beer expand? Would I want to put 3 gallons of beer in a keg to be safe, or would 4 work?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Any tips for moving with beer?
Gents, This isn't official, but I figured I'd ask early... There's a very solid chance that I'll be moving to Cincinnati the week after next, roughly 1000 miles and at least 4 days in freezing temps by the time I find housing and move in. Looks like I'll probably rent a big truck. Are there any good...

Re: Brew Day this Saturday
Would someone please remind me again what the education topic is going to be? I know it sounded like a good one. I'm going to be there, but may have to leave a bit after lunch. I'll probably also be trying to give away a fair bit of homebrew if I can get myself organized, as I need to clear things o...

Sam Smith @ World Market- 3 btls + glass for $8.88
Guys, Larry mentioned last night that World Market had some decent prices on a set of Samuel Smith beers with a glass included. I was there buying coffee a few minutes ago (aside: great store brand coffee, 24 oz for $8.79, and with their loyalty program you get a coupon for 1 bag free for every 3 ba...

Note to self: do not try Scott's beers at the Christmas party unless the bathroom appears to be unoccupied.

PBW to Fred: Get me outta here!
Fred, You were so excited to get me, and then you just left me standing there like a stood-up date. What's up with that? In any event, this evil evil man has now taken me hostage and is demanding a ransom for my safe return. My captor suggests that he could leave me at Homebrew HQ Friday evening, or...

Okay, my kegs are kicking my butt...
Gents, I've been having some trouble with my kegs of late. I know I'm not the most mechanical person, and maybe I'm assembling them wrong for all I know, but it's just one thing after another... My latest issue is that the CO2 output from the regulator is now stuck on a poppet. Took the poppe...

Re: Anybody ever infuse hops in gin?
Update: Tasted the gin a few weeks ago and couldn't taste the hops, definitely not enough. The next time I brew (hopefully in a few hours) I'm going to add 5g of hops to it and then wait another week or two. Goal here is a balanced or slightly hop-heavy (but not overwhelmingly hoppy) gin. I suspect ...

Nice family you've got started now.
They age slower and take longer to mature than Meads. Just be patient and treat them right. Enjoy!

Re: Where can I buy Lion Stout from Sri Lanka?
Gents, Thanks for the ideas. The Indian restaurant one in particular might be worth trying. I checked Mr. G's, the other beer shop on 15th a mile east of Mr. G's, Central Market, and a few other places. I think I'm going to have to go in the other direction and try to find the distributor. I know it...

Re: CO2 Tank refill
Yeah, I recently heard about the bake on paint myself and nixed that idea. I exchanged at Mr. G's. $18.00 for a 5lb tank. It should last a long time though. Yikes, that's expensive. I'm also on a 5 lb tank (I know, should have bought a 10 or 20 pounder, which I'll do in the future). Had it filled o...

Where can I buy Lion Stout from Sri Lanka?
Fellow brewers, Does anyone know where I could find Lion Stout, out of Sri Lanka, in the DFW area? I tried it many moons ago in Virginia and it blew me away; I still think of it as one of my favorite stouts, and I'm not a stout drinker. I tried HMart in Carollton; while it has a very good Asian beer...
