MoreBeer SMART vs Sabco Brewmagic

considering upgrading in the next 4 months to a big semi-automated setup. MoreBeer Smart and Sabco Brewmagic seem to be the two systems leading the way for the homebrewers wanting a good system. wanted to hear some opinions on the two. I've heard some negatives about Sabco not reading temps right. S...

Totally confused

I am new to competing in these homebrew competitions. I have beer ready I was going to submit for Catus Challenge, but I don't know how to even get started. I was reading all the rules and regulations on their website and it made my head hurt. What do I do? I know I need to get labels and all that, ...

Yuengling clone recipes

Anyone have clone recipes for Yuengling's Lord Chesterfield Ale, porter and premium?

I have a neighbor down the street that is wanting me to clone them for him, so I said I'd look into it, but now I can't find the clone recipes.

Anyone have any links or recipes?

If you are doing a lager, I'd hold it for at least 30 minutes.

One other thing: Like Scott had said though, DO NOT DO THIS IN A SINGLE INFUSION. You gotta do it in a multi-step, but that is rather simple still.

Re: getting experimental here!

I was just hoping to figure out a way to do the keg experiment in a good way. It would be like the equivalent of sucking the milk straight from the cow.

Re: H2O - WATER WATER WATER WATER

Scott, I agree with you on some points and disagree on others. I agree with you that this is ONLY A GOOD METHOD IF YOU ARE DOING MULTI-STEP. Definately do not do this if you are using single infusion. Not gonna have good results with single infusion just using 5.2 I dont necessarily agree about the ...

Re: H2O - WATER WATER WATER WATER

Chris, In answers to your questions: 1) Yes, adding 5.2 AND MINERALS will negatively effect your extraction. I explained it in the first post I did on this topic. "Phosphate buffers act in the same way, so if you add in salts which dissociate into cations and anions in aqueous solution, it will...

getting experimental here!

Hello all, I was curious if anyone on this board has ever tried a sour mash. If so, with what success and how did the beer come out? How did you do it and did you run into any issues? Also, I had this weird idea. Ok, so you know how people centuries ago brewed beer in barrels ,right. Well I assume t...

Re: H2O - WATER WATER WATER WATER

Cameron, Generally speaking, it is the first part of any multi-step mash schedule. I stopped using single infusion a long while ago. You won't be able to use it in a single step infusion. I found the single infusion method didn't produce the flavors I really wanted and didn't allow for all the enzym...
