Malting your own grain

Malting your own grain sucks, especially in the summer when you can't get down to the right temperatures. My last batch only seamed to have 50% of the normal enzymes.

Re: Cactus Challenge and Limbo Challenge entries now open

Did anyone get a prize from them yet. Scott and I got a first place and I know one other person got a 2nd or 3rd place.

Re: Brew stand

I went a fairly cheap route. This is only a 5 gal set up and I figured I would upgrade to something else later. The whole thing is made out of CPVC and PVC tubing. I glued it stratigicely because I wanted to be able to bring the whole thing to a brewday in the trunk on my car. It does fit. I've brew...

Re: Cactus Challenge and Limbo Challenge entries now open

Don’t forget, if your second hobby after brewing beer is procrastination, it may take more time then you think to register label and pack your entries, not to mention finding the time to go to the Packing Party http://www.nthba.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=894 Monday night or drop it off at one...

Re: Summer Party July 24th - Toga Competition

I don't think the kegerator is going to be there. Plan on bringing your own ice and CO2. That sucks I think thats the main reason only one person brought a keg to the last party. :( I don't want to take apart my christmas tree of valves and fittings for one night. I'm still going to bring a keg and...

Cactus Challenge and Limbo Challenge entries now open

Entries now open for the 2010 Cactus Challenge http://www.ale-iansociety.org/cactus/ and the Limbo Challenge http://www.limbocomp.org/ I would assume that the normal drop-off locations would apply (Home brew Headquarters or The Wine Makers Toy Store) and that the Cactus Challenge entries should be f...

Re: Packing Party June 21st.

Sorry I missed this tidbit of information between your club congratulations and thoughtful quotes. I do appreciate Brian for all his work trying to get these entries together and shipped. I don’t think anybody is asking you to go out of your way by doubling up the packing parties or pay for multiple...

Re: Packing Party June 21st.

For some reason I thought the packing party was at somebody’s house on Friday June 25th at 6pm.

I guess we missed the drop-off date and we can't drop off at Homebrew Headquarters anymore?

Please provide more information.

Re: grain questions

I store my grain in a 5 gallon sealed bucket from Home Depot. As far as crushing the grain I just take it to my local home brew store and use their mill, but I always need something for the next batch, even if it’s ½ pound of crystal malt. I guess if it's too far to go a rolling pin would work. I th...

Re: Big Batch Brew Bash

Is the club shipping the entries, and if so where and when do we need to have them in?
I figure if the Club gets a keg its worth parting with a few good bottles.

When I first heard of Three Sheets I didn't have the Travel channel so I bought all the episodes on iTunes. Great show.
