Re: I've gone and done it now!

This is some great info for beginning brewers. Keep it coming! Although I am not sure that the original poster is still around, this is a good discussion for those new to the hobby or looking to improve their beer. A dedicated, temp-controlled chest freezer as a fermentation chamber probably helped ...

Re: I've gone and done it now!

I would also recommend a larger pot. In order to do a "full wort boil" you will need to boil about 7 gallons of wort (28 qts) to get 5+ gallons of finished beer. You need the additional capacity to avoid boilovers. Like Wayne said, 40 qts would be great. If you are going to boil the full v...

Re: BJCP Class?

How about all that are interested get together and discuss how we proceed? I have never taken the test, and have only judged a few times, so I am clueless on what to do next. Following Ken's format for last year sounds like a good plan. Next week I can only do it on Wednesday night. If anyone is int...

Re: Yeast Pitching Rates

I do mainly 2000 ml starters, for both lagers and ales. Some say you should do twice as much for lagers, but I feel comfortable with my methods. I have been using a stir plate for the last year or so with great success. I built my own for about $15 using this link: http://onebeer.net/sp_howto.shtml ...

Will the club be holding another round of BJCP training classes? If so, please provide any details. I am interested in taking the exam.

Re: Celtic winners?

Since KOBB won't have the results posted until Dec 2010, I am curious of how our club did.

If anyone is curious about the styles allowed in the Limbo check out http://www.limbocomp.org

Looks like the dates need to be updated for 2009.

Re: "What's Brewing" on Veria TV

Well, the Grains episode is not it. I was home this afternoon when the DVR kicked on and they were not talking about beer.
