New BJCP Exam Format

Looks like the new BJCP exam format goes live at the beginning of next month. That's way sooner than I thought it would. Find out what that means for you here: http://www.bjcp.org/docs/BJCP_Exam_Structure.pdf For right now, the number of exams slots remains unchanged. Here's to hoping they are able ...

Re: Carpool to Bluebonnet Judging

So that'd be:

Target
2620 North Josey Lane
Carrollton, TX 75007

Works for me. According to Google Maps, that's about 35 minutes from Coors. So meeting at 8:20 should give us time to get organized and be there by 9.

Re: Carpool to Bluebonnet Judging

Sounds like rally point further south and west would accommodate everyone better. Can anyone suggest a good place say along Frankford or George Bush in Carlton?

Carpool to Bluebonnet Judging

Anyone up for carpooling to Bluebonnet judging this coming weekend? In years previous some of us from the Allen/Mckinney/Frisco/Plano area met a the Ikea parking lot and went from there. That seemed to work well.

Re: BJ's Allen Beer/Food Pairing Event

Melissa and I have been to a couple of these at other BJ's. Glad to hear they've had some up in Allen, too. The two we went to had Micheal "Mufasa" Fergueson (he does the contract brewing for BJ's at Saint Arnold's.) He was quite knowledgable, and funny. Of course, as you said, the audienc...

Re: BIG50 Batch #3

On the yeast question, I'm going to be pitching WLP028 which is pretty much the same thing as Wyeast 1728; there both the McEwan yeast. For what it's worth, Jamil recommends WLP001/Wyeast 1056 for this style, so you may wish to consider that.

Re: BIG50 Batch #3

With Damon out that's 7 shares sold, so there's another 1 or 2 still up for sale.

Also, if any one has a pop up we could use, that would be really great, we are looking at a chance of rain on Saturday.

Re: BIG50 Batch #3

Brian,

We likely won't have the wort ready until later in the afternoon in any event, so that should work out fine.

Thanks,
Erich

Re: BIG50 Batch #3

After a brief discussion at the COC judging, Barrett and I will be doing the Sottish 70/- on February brew day, and Einar will do a Black IPA on the April brew day. Here's a link to my proposed recipe: http://hopville.com/recipe/1097606/scottish-heavy-70---recipes/big-brew-3 Let me know if you want ...

Re: BIG50 Batch #3

So I had done some e-mailing with Wayne, and Barrett and I were looking at doing a Scottish 70/- for COC and Celtic. Both of which are due April. When is the BBBB due? The website doesn't seem to have been updated. It'd be cool if we could find a way to do both, if not we'll need to figure out which...

Re: BIG50 Batch #3

Good idea, Bill. The porter isn't till August though, so that leaves the question of what to do with the monster rig on the 18th. It'll be too late by then to brew for the March 3rd dead line for the Stouts. But we could do Scottish and Irish Ales, with the bonus that these could also be ready for t...
