I can't seem to brew an award winning beer, but I did manage to get 2nd with a Common Cider.
Damn Scott! You're a force this year.
Congrats to all the winners.

Re: Alamo City Cerveza Fest! Big Announcment!
I emailed them last night and got a response that they were working on it. They said they hoped to have them posted by the end of the night, but obviously they did not.

Have a Best Bitter and Irish Red Ale in the bottles. Strong Scotch and 60/ (or mild) in the fermenters.

Re: Märzen
Mine is: 9 lbs Munich 3.75 lbs Pils 0.25 lbs Melinoidin Bitter with Magnum to ~25 IBU 0.25 oz Hallertau at 15 minutes, (regardless of %AA) I've spoken to a brewer at Paulaner and he said their Marzen is 70% munich, 30% pilsner, and a "touch of crystal." I've used WLP 833 in the past, but I...

Re: Competition bottle question
Bill - I took the wax off these entries and the mouth is too wide for a standard crown cap to crimp over them. I read that in the Bluebonnet rules section. But it appears it wont be a problem! Thanks guys.

Re: Competition bottle question
Wow! You guys are great. I'm eager to hear the answer because I think its a good mead and would score well, hopefully after all this talk it is still "indistinguishable."

Re: Competition bottle question
I don't think I want to risk oxydation by rebottling. I'll just go for it. It's only 7 bucks, and if it gets disqualified then I'll know no corks and I'm only out 3 bottles. I *could* loose the whole batch rebottling, plus I like the corks! I even waxed 'em, but have removed the wax on the 3 entries...

Competition bottle question
I have a mead that I'd like to enter into Bluebonnet, but I bottled it in 375 mL bottles and corked it. The guidelines state that corked bottles must have a crown cap crimped over the top, but a cap doesn't fit on these bottles. Will the entries be disqualified if I send them in cork only?

Was that the Lewisville location? I was listening to the Sunday Session on the BN a while back and they said the BJs was going to retrofit a lot of the locations with guest taps. How exciting!donniestyle wrote:Just got an email from BJs. They claim to have 20 new beers on tap.

Re: January meeting place poll
The BJs in Lewisville does have a small glassed in area off to the left after you walk in that could work, but I don't know that it could be closed off. I put Lewisville in the hat as well, seeing as how I live there. I rarely go to meetings because they are always seem to be in or around Plano. Now...

I stop by there all the time for little things, its on my way home. George is a good guy. He sold those Brewer's Best kits and some other kit. What all does he have now?
