November Brewday

So, Aaron, Barrett and I will be hosting the november brewday on the 12th.

I wanted to make a post about this because of the unique nature of my house...it allows for no less than 7 brew kits to comfortably brew under covered areas.
if the weather cooperates I could easily accomodate 10-12.

I think it would be awesome to have everyone bring a kit and brew something unusual. I know we are kicking around a few ideas.

So seriously consider heading out and brewing with us.

the average temp in early nov. is low 70s! So it should be a great time to brew!

I've got the big brew rig (50 gallon) but I would need enough volunteers to take wort home and ferment to make it worthwhile to haul over there.
I'm getting it set up to go.

Well it depends. Figure a barrel of beer. I think we could do a max of 45 gallons.
Most likely should brew an ale to accommodate most peoples setups.

We could do a partigyle and make 2 or 3 brews.

I would be willing to take 5-10 gal and be involved in doing the actual brewing and anything you need help with. How much I take would depend on demand and the base wort and hops.

I'm planning on bringing my system and brew a Scotish 80/- so count me in.

american amber or belgian pale would be my vote...leaning toward the BPA.

it is a good base that can be aged,dry hopped, oaked or whatever and make a host of good beers!

I'm fine with a belgian pale ale.
I would think we would all pitch our own yeast so we need to prepare accordingly.

One of the great and versatile strains for the production of classic Belgian style ales. This strain produces a beautiful balance of delicate fruit esters and subtle spicy notes; with neither one dominating. Unlike many other Belgian style strains, this strain is highly flocculent and results in bright beers.

I just talked to kelly and he has it in. I will plan to make a starter that will cover 10 gal. if more people want to use that let me know and I will increase the size of the starter accordingly.

What are we making there? I wanted to make a Christmas ale and if the wort is close enough, I'll take 5 gallons or so.

looks like a belgian pale ale.

aaron and I will also be brewing an all grain and something else.

We can pull wort of the mash if you want to do a minimash of some specialties to change the style.
Of course you would have to boil the wort yourself.

Lots of possibilities but would need to plan ahead.
One thought I had was to pull off a bit of the first and second runnings to make a strong dark by adding some specialty malts.
